BP Leaking Oil, Profits

Guest Writer Patrick Harrison

There is more than one dire leak going on for BP. As BP spends approximately $22 million US dollars each day on cleaning the spill and attempting to stop it, funds are been hemorrhaged out of the company at an ever increasing rate. The company's market capitalization has plummeted $53.2 billion or nearly 30% since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 20th. With repeat failures and no feasible solution in sight, BP seems to been desperately attempting to preserve their their company and capital by reassuring that their efforts are "going to plan" (CEO Tony Hayward on May 26th).

Four days later, BP has openly admitted their top kill plan has failed (without providing any reason) and that their other options including another type of containment device, the LMRP, may not prove successful. Obama's top environmental adviser, Carol Browner, said that shearing the riser pipes could unleash much more oil and questions how possible it would be to achieve a snug fit on the leak. Ultimately, BPs funds for this emergency response will dry up, they'll likely incur more liability to the point that they're insolvent, shareholder's will sue, and the oil may still be gushing. So until other nations and citizens can stop speculating over BPs feeble, unconvincing attempts to contain the spill and contribute to the effort (in terms of funds and human ingenuity), BP will continue to frantically design plans and attempt them with with haste while they try to downplay and deny the gravity of the leak(s).

It's a terrifying situation, each day seems to get worse. Now, BPs workers are being rushed into emergency rooms complaining about symptoms like nausea and dizziness among others. Hopefully more powerful entities and organizations will contribute their resources to contain the spill otherwise they - along with the rest of us - will reach our imminent demise.

Top Kill Fails, BP Still Won't Admit They Can't Contain Leak

But, of course, now they are "confident" that their Plan D will work. BP says they will just use "robot submarines to cut off the source of the leak, a damaged riser, and cap it with a containment valve that's already resting on the sea floor." Oh, of course. The robot submarines. Well why didn't they say so? In that case, light up the cigars and pop the champagne! Four days, they say, to complete the new operation. Let's check back in on Wednesday.

Do Lies Matter?

Or, perhaps more aptly put, does truth matter?

BP Still maintains that the amount of oil flowing from the the hole in the ocean's floor is nearly impossible to determine despite a near unanimous consensus amongst leading experts and scientists that it is not only possible but actually quite simple to determine the flow, averaging out the results of several methods. Although it is "impossible" to know according
to BP, they still somehow come up with the magic 5000 number. 5,000 barrels a day. They stick to it like its fly paper. Gee, I wonder why all those silly scientist folk say that the real number is somewhere between 70,000-100,000 barrels per day (See posts below).

Things Are Getting Worse, BP Suppresses Truth
Engineering professor Bob Bea at the University of California at Berkeley, who has spent more than 55 years working and studying oil rigs, says that the oil spewing from the abominable drill scar is getting darker in color, and that is disastrous news. The darker oil is highly toxic and only further endangers the species of the oceans. I say oceans because this spill has entered into the loop current which will push it out into the open sea beyond the gulf. Oh ya, BP says the darker oil doesn't matter. The monstrous, underwater oil plumes are roaming the gulf killing everything in sight and creating dead-zones devoid of life. Unfortunately, I'm not exaggerating or making this stuff up.

And, I don't wanna freak you out, but did the Hopi foresee this oil disaster in their ancient prophecies? Weird.

Does it matter that BP lies at the detriment of precious ecosystems that took billions of years to evolve? I guess not. Humanity must be an infant to disregard the immediacy and urgency that this "accident" requires. Planet Earth must be feeling stretched to her limits, trying to provide for us as we ravage the support structures that hold the web of life together.

BP Says 5000 Barrels Was Right; Dismisses Scientists

Universities and scientists around the world have analyzed the video of the oil spewing from the ocean floor and their conclusion is that the true amount of oil gushing is around 10 times the BP estimate. BP's Chief Operating Officer says that the scientists and scholars are wrong and that it is probably around 5,000 barrels a day. BP claims to be "..applying every single resource possible." In truth, so far they have spent a fraction of what they make in a week on the effort.

True Oil Leak Dimensions Finally Being Admitted

As I mentioned here previously, the true scope of this oil leak is far greater than the US government and BP have been admitting. Now, after a video released by BP showing the oil leak has been obtained around the world, independent scientific analysis has confirmed that the damaged pipe is spewing around 70,000 barrels a day into the Gulf. Compare that to the 5,000 barrels a day the "official" estimates had pegged it at. This means that this oil leak (it is not a spill) is far worse than the Exxon Valdez Spill and will surpass the Ixtoc 1 spill (the 2nd largest ever) in only 26 more days.

USA Today - Gulf Spill Reportedly 70,000 Barrels

Bellona - BP Finally Admits Spill 10 Times Worse than Thought

First the "official" estimate was 1,000 barrels per day. Next, a small organization called SkyTruth, which uses satellite images to monitor environmental problems, published an estimate on April 27 suggesting that the flow rate had to be at least 5,000 barrels a day, and probably several times that.. So the next day the official estimate became 5,000 barrels. Experts and scientists around the world have been saying it must be far greater than that. Now, BP releases a video, scientists and universities analyze it and, like magic, BP is saying it could be far worse than originally thought.

CBC propaganda fail

Skimming the mainstream news for any trace of truth, the Orwellian term "protest zone" caught my eye. It turns out this article was well worth my attention because it alerted me to a blatant propaganda piece aimed at convincing Canadians that free speech and lawful protest should be relegated to the city park.

Is this considered investigative journalism? According to the unnamed writer of the article, "Designated speech areas are designed to give protesters a safe place to gather, make their voices heard and access the media." Is this pseudo-person in la-la land or what?

Gulf Oil Spill a "Dead Zone in the Making"?
Experts fear oil spill could get far worse

Oil Spill Worse than You Think

This oil spill is a lot worse than the media is making it out to be.
We have never seen environmental destruction on this level, never
since the dawn of man. I have been looking around on the net and
scientists are saying this could end life in the gulf! Some scientists
are saying that if the oil keeps gushing at this pace we will be on
track to seriously damage all ocean life. Dig around a bit on this
one.

Why are they so afriad?

The security for the upcoming G8 and G20 summit in Toronto will be unprecedented and a true demonstration of the police state's determination to quell dissent and lawful protest. The world is awakening to the corruption of the "global leadership" and the counter-corporatist movement is gaining traction. The apparent need for WW3-style security at the global government and finance gatherings is a clear indication that the globalists are afraid.

Canada Has Lost it's Sovereignty

"Once a nation parts with the control of its currency and credit, it matters not who makes the nations laws. Usury, once in control, will wreck any nation. Until the control of the issue of currency and credit is restored to government and recognized as its most sacred responsibility, all talk of the sovereignty of parliament and of democracy is idle and futile."

- Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, who nationalized the Bank of Canada in 1938

Although Prime Minister Mackenzie successfully nationalized the Bank of Canada, eventually the bankers worked their way back in and today Canada borrows nearly all of it's money from private institutions.
